What is Growth?
Growth is improving one or more areas of our knowledge, health, and meaning.
As I point out in my Core Bible Verses book and blog post, there are three levels of knowledge. There is basic knowledge of what things do, understanding of how things interact, and wisdom of how to apply knowledge and understanding. I offer the best way to learn to apply knowledge and understanding is with a plan. Anewtrek growth plans are the best way to start improving anything.
Why is Growth Important?
Intentionally pursuing growth can increase a sense of meaning in life. Despite sharing the same basic human needs and motivations, we all have our own desires and definition of success. When we feel like we are growing and getting closer to our desires and success life feels more meaningful. If life feels meaningless, consider the fact that we can review and renew our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, and build meaning in life.
We can increase our sense of meaning when we focus on the Four Core Ways to Build Meaning. These are faith, strengths, relationships, and goals. I highlight this in my book, Core Bible Verses, based on 2 Timothy 1:7. God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power (strengths), love (relationships), and a sound mind (faith and goals). Our skills are the most basic area of our strengths.
As I also point out in my Core Bible Verses book, our Four Core Skills include thinking, decision-making, willpower, and communication. These actions are also based on our God given spirit of power (willpower), love (communication), and a sound mind (thinking and decision-making), as expressed in the Bible (2 Timothy 1:7). This is the same spirit that has helped people around the world to achieve their goals, and even become more than they ever thought they could. This is the same spirit you have inside of you.

What is a Plan?
A plan is recorded information about a situation and a desire, including actions to achieve the desire.
There are three levels of planning. Low level is a To Do List or scheduling tasks on a calendar. Mid level planning is one or two pages of a plan, often called a lean plan. The goal plan templates offered in the Personal Planning Package are lean plans. High level planning is thinking through and recording actions for a desire or achievement using three or more pages. I think of this as traditional planning.
Why is a Plan Important?
What are Anewtrek Growth Plans?
Growth Plans recorded information about a situation and desire, specifically for growth, including actions to achieve it. They are included in the Personal Planning Package, published by Anewtrek.
Growth Plans are about improving your health, skills, or relationships. It could also be about building more meaning in life. It’s not about achieving material things. However, there can be a time and place for those goals. But there is evidence that the more we improve our health, skills, and relationships, the more we naturally attract opportunities.
How to Pursue Anewtrek Growth Plans
Of course, having desires is natural, but taking time to record an Anewtrek Growth Plan can be a challenge. Our desires of the flesh just want us to enjoy life. However, planning is necessary to increase your clarity about how to achieve your desire. It forces you to think through possibilities, including potential opportunities, and challenges.
Either before you take time to record your Anewtrek Growth Plan, or before you pursue it, consider the Complete Wisdom Model. This is from my book, Core Bible Verses, in the Christian Wisdom Guide chapter. It is a Foundation of Being, Art of Learning, and Science of Creating. It is based on the Bible Verse, 2 Timothy 1:7, God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (to create, be, and learn).
The Complete Wisdom Model
Foundation of Being
This includes our Four Core Virtues; Love, Faith, Wisdom, and Courage.
Love could very well be argued as our highest meaning in life. Love can help us persist in any opportunity and persevere any challenge. Everyone wants to be loved, but this is often a benefit of loving other people first. Loving people can be difficult because we also don’t want to be hurt or manipulated. The other three virtues help us to love better, and to accept love.
We all have moments where we feel that we want to express love in some way, but we are hesitant. We may want to help someone or encourage them, but we are unsure if they will accept it well. This is where faith is important. Faith is also attractive. When people sense faith it can give them peace and strengthen their spirit, especially a faith in God. But how do we grow our faith? Wisdom helps grow our faith, and understand how to love better.
Wisdom is our ability to apply our knowledge and understanding to make better choices. It requires humility and integrity. Wisdom is how we know people, understand how they will probably react in different situations, and act in faith. We gain wisdom through thinking, doing, and other people or God. Gaining wisdom from other people or God can save us years of personal experience. However, gaining wisdom requires courage.
Courage is respecting truth and people by doing what is right, in the right way, at the right time. It is not easy, but it is arguably the most important virtue. I say this because courage is the cornerstone of our Foundation of Being. Courage is required to gain wisdom, which helps us have faith, which helps us to love and be loved.
Art of Learning
This includes our Four Core Skills: Thinking, Decision-Making, Willpower, and Communication.
Our thinking is way more powerful than many people think it is. It is how we understand what happened in each situation, and make meaning of it. Thinking includes beliefs and feelings from previous experiences. Thinking and feeling are how we make decisions, but know that studies show that our feelings and emotions can corrupt or block effective thinking. A good thinking process to work on is to be calm, clear, caring, and courageous.
Our future is built on our decisions. We are not our thoughts and emotions; we are what we do with them. Somone could have one type of thoughts and emotions and dismiss them and do just the opposite. A good decision-making process is to clarify, compare, and commit. Clarify motivations, facts, and assumptions. Compare options. Commit to a plan.
Willpower is following through on our decisions. Studies show it depends heavily on our lifestyle, mainly our food, activity, rest, and relationships. Proper nutrition and physical activity can help improve our mood and willpower. A good night’s rest is proven to help our body and brain to detox, recover, and renew our willpower. Our relationships influence our beliefs and willpower. A good process to maintain willpower is to think and eat clean, exercise, rest well, and share life with supportive people.
Communication is the most basic way we share life. It is critical to build trust and love. A good communication process for an important conversation is to be aware, care, share, and compare. Be aware of intent and emotions. Care about their understanding and meaning. Share your understanding and meaning, respectfully. Then compare the consequences of each sides understanding and meaning.
Science of Creating
This includes our Wisdom System; Aspire, Believe, Commit, and Discover.
To aspire is to add some plan to a desire. This strengthens our intention for the desire, and gives us clarity and focus on how to achieve it. A growth plan is the best first step to creating anything important.
To believe something is possible is to build faith around what you aspire to do, or your plan. This is often done with some new knowledge or wisdom about how to achieve your plan. As I mentioned earlier, wisdom from other people can save us years of personal experience. Almost anything you want to achieve, someone has done it and shared how, in a book, podcast, or online video.
To commit to a plan is arguably the most difficult step, as it involves change. One of the best commitments I’ve had is to improve my morning routine, with some reading/learning, prayer, exercise, and reviewing my goals. It sounds counter-intuitive, but there are times that a short burst of exercise helps increase my energy level when I’m tired. Even first thing in the morning after I wake up, a set of pullups or pushups can be energizing. A productive morning sets the stage for the rest of the day, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Discover what works and what doesn’t. Not all truths, or principles, will work the same for everyone, despite being subject to the same natural laws. We are made of the same physical elements, and have the same basic needs and motivations. But the combination of our genetics, experiences, core values, and beliefs make us unique.
If there is any important improvement or achievement for your life, the Personal Planning Package can probably help. It includes a few different Anewtrek Growth Plans.
